“Crystal reports has stopped working.  A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.”  Using CR2011.  Occurs with certain tables from MySQL database with Connector ODBC 5.1.  Some tables will select in Report Creation Wizard whereas others will generate the error and close the program.  Have received same error from 2 independent databases.  Solutions and suggestions welcome as I cannot proceed without a repair.  Thanks in advance.

I have since learned the tables not selectable exceed 12 characters in tablename.  In other words, any tablename <= 12 characters will be selected for field explorer.  Apparently names not truncated create the error.  Is there a fix so I may use my existing databases to create reports and evaluate CR 2011?

I have never run into this.  I assume it is an ODBC issue, because I am using an MS-SQL database with table and field names longer than 12 characters.

I am using a 30 day trial version of CR2011 and perhaps restrictions have been implemented by SAP.  Any thoughts?

Also, what is the correct ODBC driver for this application?  As stated I am using the 5.1.11.

I am facing the same problem - mySQL ODBC Version 5.1.11, CR2011 (full version, no trial). Some databases are working - some not. I installed the latest CR2011 Patch 17 but no change. Do you have a solution for that problem nwohio?

I can only offer what I have already posted:  the 12 character limit to table names.  That 5.1 driver works for me.  Test the table name scenario by selecting only <12 char tables and then add one with >12 to see if it crashes.  Good luck.

In my case it even crashes when I select tables with <12 chars. Looks like I need to open a ticket at SAP
