    Posted: 24 Jul 2012 at 11:34pm
Hi,

I am using crystal report 13. I have generated reports in Hindi language using unicode Mangal font.
It displays the report on web properly but when i print it on local printer HP Laser Jet P1008 prints
boxes instead of Hindi Language words. But there is no issue to print English words with the same report.
can you Please help me to resolve the issue?

Which service pack of Crystal 2008 do you have.  I suspect the printer can't handle the font.  To confirm whether this is a Crystal issue or a printer issue, I would create a small MS Word document using the same font and see whether it will print correctly on the same printer.  If it doesn't, then you know the issue is with the printer and you'll have to change to another font.  If it does then the issue is with Crystal and you'll want to look at installing the latest service pack/fix pack to see if that will resolve the issue.  If that doesn't work you'll probably have to open a support case for it.

Is Mangal a TrueType font?  If not, you need to find a TrueType font that will give you the characters you're looking for.  If it is a TrueType font, you may need to apply the registry fix from SAP KnowledgeBase article 1542287 to your web server.  The article talks about Arabic fonts, but it will probably apply to your Hindi font as well.

The registry path is HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite12.0\Crystal Reports\Export\Pdf.  You'll add a new key called
UseCustomEncoding and set its value to 00000000

So create the Pdf item under Export.  You'll need to make sure it's "Pdf" not "pdf".

I created Pdf item under Export and added the key as you told but then also same issue is there. Is it binary value or string value because i set string value.
I created Pdf then added key named UseCustomEncoding so one folder is created there and in that folder i set string value to 00000000
Please guide

UseCustomEncoding should be a DWORD value.

At this point you'll have to open a support case with SAP to resolve the issue.
