    Posted: 20 Mar 2015 at 3:27am
Hi folks, I used to use CR waaaaay back in my finance days but have not used it in years. Well, I'm back to using it and have found I forgot a lot.

So quick question. I need to know how to group by the results of a group summary.

Example: Bob has 5 apples, Jane has 5 apples, Tom has 4 apples and Joe has 2 apples.

I found out how many apples each one of them have by doing a summary of apples and grouping by person.

How can I then group by users with X number of apples? (IE. X number of people have 5 apples, X number have 4, etc...) The field for the summary is not available when creating a group.

Thanks!

you can sort by group summary results but you cannot regroup by a group summary as these can alter the summary results.
You could "mimic a grouping" by sorting on the group result and creating a formual field as a group header that uses the summary result in the string.

likely the notion of doing the grouping is a precurser to watning another step after that. Is there more to the question that you assumed would be resolved if you could do the grouping as you wanted?

group sorting is only available if you use a group summary process (use the sigma button). It is not available for Running totals or shared variable formula results.
Good luck.
