Topic: Page Numbers Posted: 14 Oct 2019 at 3:53am
Hi
I wonder if someone can help please.
I have merged 2 reports together 1 as a main report and the second as a sub report. When printing they look like 2 separate reports, which was the aim. However the page numbering is not correct. The main report is 3 pages long as the sub report is 2 pages long. When I put the page number on the main report it return 1 of 5 2 of 5 etc. The sub report is correct 1 of 2 etc.Is there a way of ignoring the sub report pages please?
So the main report would be 1 of 3, 2 of 3...

There is no way to do that, unfortunately, so I would take out "Page N of M" and just use the page number.
You need to be wary of using Page N of M and Total Page on reports. Normally, when a report runs, Crystal will present the first page as soon as its finished rendering and then process the rest of the pages in the background. However, when you display the total number of pages, Crystal has to render the whole report to get that number. If it's a large report, this may take a long time and will make the report seem slow to users.

Thanks for the advice on using Page Totals.
I got around the problem by creating a third report which was just the job number and added my 2 reports as sub reports. It didn't seem to impact speed too much. But I will take off the total page count.
