None of my fields showing any datatype in field explorer. Is there any other way to find it out?
 
Meantime I will try creating date type formula field.

in the field explorer
right click on Databse Fields
select 'show field type' (so it puts a check mark by it)

And that option is not there too...
 
But I was able to convert date field and grouped by year, month and workrs great. I am about to finish the report now , just need to beautify it...Thanks a lot and I really learn lot from your help.  Appreciate all your quick responses.
 
Any idea why that date filed did not came back from SP as date field?

if the stored proc has the data type for that field set to char (or any other text type) that is how crystal will bring it in. Just because it is formatted like a date means nothing. Same as if it were strings of all numbers. It will be a string ini crystal unless the the sp has that field set to a numeric type.

My datatype for TrxDate field is Date, but I guess it brings as date in CR. strange!
