Hi
My detail line consists of a number,
and an item of text.

My number needs to be formatted as
   1 decimal
   1 rounding
   No thousand separator
   No leading zero,

The item of text must have ‘can grow’ ticked.

When the item of text is very long,
the display consists of the number in one row,
followed by the item of text occupying 2 rows.

Since the detail line has background shaded,
this display is unacceptable.

I thought I would introduce a formula, like
   Number & " " & item of text.

However, the number is being displayed
with decimals and separators.

Is there any way to format the number
from within the formula ?

Many thanks
Eany

There's a relatively easy way to do this:

1.  Delete your fields from the details line.
2.  Put an empty text box in your detail line. and resize it to however wide you want your data to display.
3.  Drag the number field into the text box - you'll know it's in the right place when you get a straight-line cursor in the text box.
4.  Drag the text field into the text box to the right of the number field.
5.  Double-click on the text box, place your cursor between the two fields and press your space-bar to add a space.
6.  Highlight the number field, right-click and format the field.
7.  Click outside of the text box then right-click on it, select Format and make sure Can Grow is turned on.
