Hi There,
I am trying to get a Crystal report to total the colum of patients names, but I keep getting funky numbers.  There must be a simple way to do this. but what is it?  As you can tell, I'm fairly new to Crystal.
Thank you for your help,
BRUFAM

Depending on what you are trying to report out on one of the two formulas should work

count({table.patientname})

distinctcount({table.patientname})

Hope this helps.

Sarah

In the Field Explorer, right-click on Formula Fields and select New. Give the formula a name and enter the formula that Sarah mentioned. Save it. Then you can drag and drop it anywhere on your report. Another alternative is to right-click on the field you want to summarize and select Insert > Summary and then pick Count as the summary calculation.

I keep looking at the book when I go to Amazon...I just can't decide whether or not to go hard copy or get it online from here.
Thank both of you for the expertise!
